Howard University Hospital is seeking an Electrician to join the Facilities Management team in Washington, DC. You will maintain electrical systems up to the secondary distribution panel and support coordination with HVAC systems, ensuring power, lighting, and signals are dependable for 24-hour hospital operations.

The role requires 3 years of electrical experience, a high school diploma or GED, and knowledge of NEC/OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years electrical experience.
• Knowledge of low voltage systems and basic wiring principles.
• Familiarity with OSHA Standards and NEC.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to apply NEC standards and hospital policies.
• Ability to use hand and power tools related to the trade.
• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, threading, pulling, and installing conduit.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Ability to work with staff, physicians, and hospital/University staff.

Responsibilities

• Check, test, and repair faulty switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures.
• Connect wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splice wires as required.
• Inspect lighting, circuits, and equipment for faults.
• Mount motors, transformers, and fixtures; complete circuits.
• Isolate defects in wiring and electrical equipment.
• Install conduit and armored cable with supports and brackets.
• Respond to on-call system problems.
• Support Compliance Program and HIPAA confidentiality.
• Assume other duties related and appropriate to the position.
