Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an Electrician to join our Facilities Management team. You will maintain and repair electrical systems up to the secondary distribution panel to ensure reliable power, lighting, and life-safety systems across the hospital.

The role requires 3 years of electrical experience, a High School diploma or GED, NEC knowledge, and the ability to read drawings. On-call work, day/evening/night shifts, and strict adherence to safety standards are

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of electrical experience.
• Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and basic wiring principles.
• Familiarity with OSHA Standards and the NEC.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Check, test, and repair faulty switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures.
• Connect wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splice wires as required.
• Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, and power circuits and equipment.
• Mount motors, transformers, and light fixtures; complete circuits.
• Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
• Measure, cut, thread, and install electrical conduit and armored cable with supports/ brackets.
• Respond to on-call system problems.
• Support compliance and HIPAA confidentiality.
• Assume other duties related to the position.
