Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking an Electrician to join the Facilities Management team. You will perform maintenance and repairs on electrical systems up to the secondary distribution panel, supporting coordination with HVAC and hospital operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of electrical experience, familiarity with NEC/OSHA standards, and ability to work varying shifts including on-call.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years electrical experience.
• Knowledge of low voltage systems and basic wiring principles.
• Familiarity with OSHA and NEC standards.
• Ability to read drawings and technical docs.
• Proficiency with hand/power tools and conduit work.
• Ability to work varying shifts and on-call.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical systems up to secondary distribution panels.
• Test and repair switches, sockets, lighting, and ballasts.
• Connect wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splice wires.
• Inspect electrical lighting, signal, and power circuits.
• Mount motors, transformers, and light fixtures; complete circuits.
• Isolate defects in wiring and electrical equipment.
• Respond to on-call system problems.
• Support HIPAA and hospital confidentiality policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
