Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System, a proud member of Trinity Health, is seeking a full-time cook for the Day Shift to prepare meals for patients, cafeteria, and catering services in central Ohio. This role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to clinical nutrition guidelines.

You will obtain ingredients, follow recipes, and collaborate with dietitians on modified diets while maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience with commercial production food service.
• Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in a hospital setting, large institution or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of large quantity cooking standards and recipe-based preparation.
• Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision; ability to work independently as part of a team.
• Must work well with others and maintain a clean, neat appearance.

Responsibilities

• Obtains appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary.
• Responsible for lifting and carrying medium to heavy food and equipment.
• Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times.
• Confers with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of reviews menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be.
• All other duties as assigned.
