Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Norristown State Hospital is seeking a Custodial Worker 1 to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role supports hospital operations through housekeeping, waste removal, and building upkeep.

You’ll work full-time, 37.5 hours weekly from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch, and periodic weekend/holiday shifts. Telework is not available, and parking is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Medical examination required after conditional offer.
• Subject to criminal history checks including PA State Police and FBI clearances.

Responsibilities

• Facility Cleaning: dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors; clean baseboards.
• Room Sanitation: clean furniture, fixtures, lavatories, beds, lockers, cabinets, mattresses.
• Waste Removal: collect trash and dispose of infectious waste.
• Building Upkeep: wash windows, vents, lighting; replace bulbs.
• Grounds Support: sweep walkways, entrances; shovel snow.
• Event Preparation: ready buildings for trainings and events.
