Job summary

Responsibilities

• Facility Cleaning: Dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors; clean baseboards and other areas.
• Room Sanitation: Clean furniture, fixtures, lavatories, beds, lockers, cabinets, and mattresses.
• Waste Removal: Collect trash and safely dispose of infectious waste.
• Building Upkeep: Wash windows, clean vents, replace light bulbs, maintain coverings.
• Grounds Support: Sweep walkways and entrances; shovel snow from pedestrian areas.
• Event Preparation: Ready buildings for trainings, conferences, dinners, and events.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides housekeeping services that help maintain a secure and sanitary environment throughout Norristown State Hospital. Duties include cleaning, waste removal, facility upkeep, and support for building operations and special events. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Facility Cleaning: Dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors while cleaning baseboards and other assigned areas
• Room Sanitation: Clean furniture, fixtures, lavatories, beds, lockers, cabinets, and mattresses to maintain sanitary conditions
• Waste Removal: Gather trash and properly remove infectious waste to designated storage areas
• Building Upkeep: Wash windows, clean air vents, maintain window coverings, and replace light bulbs
• Grounds Support: Sweep walkways and entrances and shovel snow from pedestrian access areas
• Event Preparation: Prepare buildings for trainings, conferences, dinners, patient advocate activities, and other events

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours may change based on operational needs.
  • You will work every 4th weekend and holiday.
• Overtime as operationally necessary
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
