Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a full-time courier/driver to transport lab, pharmacy, homecare items using hospital vehicles and to support patient care.

You will maintain routes, document pickups, and ensure timely, quality service. Requires a valid Ohio driver’s license, DMV checks, and hospital training; strong communication and basic computer skills are essential. Shift 2PM-10PM; benefits eligible.

Responsibilities

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.

• Evaluates weather conditions to preplan trips and delays; maintains safety of cargo and vehicle.
• Assists in training new staff and documents progress per guidelines.
• Provides customer service to ensure patient care and satisfaction.

Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children's Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and their clients. Drives NCH provided vehicles for courier routes and on-demand jobs.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handles pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers. Documents all route information and pick-ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio driver's license as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to use hospital provided cell phone and communication tracking system.
