Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time courier to transport and support operations for the Department of Laboratory Medicine. You will drive hospital vehicles on courier routes and on-demand tasks, maintaining schedules and ensuring timely deliveries.

The role requires a valid Ohio driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and successful completion of driving qualifications and background checks. Strong communication and basic computer skills are essential in this position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain route schedules to complete routine and on-demand deliveries.

• Monitor weather conditions to preplan trips and avoid delays.
• Ensure cargo and vehicle safety per hospital guidelines.
• Assist in training new staff and monitor their progress.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handles pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers. Documents all route information and pick-ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio driver's license as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
