Job summary

Sodexo at SSM HEALTH ST. CLARE HOSPITAL-FENTON is seeking a Cook I to prepare and present hot and cold items across meal periods, in a fast-paced kitchen, following culinary standards and safety practices.

You bring a high school diploma or equivalent, 0-2 years of related experience, and familiarity with kitchen equipment and recipes; the role offers full-time employment with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, and other foodstuffs.
• Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
• Significant walking or other means of mobility.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, which may exceed 8 hours.
• Lift up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Perform repetitive motions.
• Attend scheduled shifts on time.
• Other duties may be assigned per business needs.
