Job summary

Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, IL is seeking a General Lab Technician to support the full spectrum of laboratory testing. The role involves performing procedures across Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology and more, ensuring accuracy before reporting results.

Responsibilities include quality control, instrument maintenance, and potential LIS/POC tasks. A sign-on bonus is available; licensure and ASCP credentials are preferred for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or CLIA equivalent.
• Current and valid state license if required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to procedures for collection, processing, analysis and reporting of patient test results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when tests deviate.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and escalate as needed.
• Perform manual and automated laboratory procedures across multiple disciplines.
• Maintain instruments and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Review accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
• Recognize age-specific differences from newborns to geriatrics.
• Assist in development and maintenance of lab policies and safety procedures.
• In supervisor absence, may be Lead Tech for the section/shift.
• Handle LIS/POC-related responsibilities as assigned.
