Job summary

Whitecap Search Healthcare Partners is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee a high-volume hospital chemistry department, ensuring seamless operations and spearheading automated instrumentation implementation.

The successful candidate will manage a multi-shift environment, supervise staff across 3 shifts, and drive integration of new technologies while maintaining QA/QC and CAP/CLIA compliance. Onsite NY location with Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• 4+ years in clinical lab with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
• Strong chemistry discipline and automation experience.
• Experience with instrument validation and implementation.
• Knowledge of QA/QC and CAP/CLIA compliance.
• Proven staff scheduling and performance management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversees 12-15 direct reports across 3 shifts.
• Responsible for full chemistry department operations.
• Ensure smooth handoffs between day and evening shifts.
• Lead instrumentation upgrades and automation rollout.
• Manage staffing optimization (per diem to full-time conversions).
• Act as primary escalation point for clinical, technical, and operational issues.
