Job summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a chaplain to deliver holistic spiritual care to patients and families, engaging in consultation, crisis support, and education across care teams. The role includes on-call coverage, collaboration with interdisciplinary staff, and mentoring students in clinical pastoral education.

Requires graduate theological degree, CPE units, and faith-group endorsement. Eligible for board certification within 18 months of hire; has the opportunity to advance mission-driven

Qualifications

• Completed graduate degree (MA, MDiv) in religious studies, theology, divinity or related field.
• 4 units of CPE, at least three accredited by ACPE.
• Eligible for board certification as a chaplain: APC/BCCI, NACC, NAJC; to be completed within 18 months of hire.
• Endorsed by faith group.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care, consultation and short-term counseling to patients, families and staff; support sacramental ministries.
• Respond to codes and emergencies; assist families and promote patient safety.
• Participate in department/site activities; provide site coverage including weekends/holidays.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; mentor students and contribute to education and grand rounds.
• Support mission and values of Advocate Aurora Health; engage parish clergy through referrals and education.
• Participate in educational initiatives and support groups for patients, families, and staff.
