Job summary

The University of Washington, through Harborview Medical Center, is seeking a Carpenter for a 100% FTE day shift to support hospital facilities. This journey-level role focuses on maintenance and repair to ensure a safe, functional environment for UW Medicine patients and staff.

You will perform framing, drywall, door and window work, cabinets and fixture installation, and operation of power tools as part of a dedicated facilities team in Seattle.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter; or full journey status as a carpenter in a union.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install metal stud framing, drywall, wall protection, doors, door frames, windows and hardware.
  • Repair walls, ceilings, screens, sashes, doors, furniture, fixtures, stairs, cupboards, windows and roofs.
  • Build, repair and install cabinets, patient and staff furniture and casework.
  • Install wall hung fixtures like blood pressure gauges, alarms, dispensers, shelves and cabinets.
  • Adjust, repair or replace locks, weather stripping, screens, mirrors, hinges and panic hardware.
  • Operate power equipment such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planers and mortising machines.
