Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems seeks a Patient Flow Coordinator to optimize bed placement, triage, and transfers across VCUHS facilities. You will support the One Call Center and coordinate psych intake with admissions teams.

Required RN licensure in VA or eligible compact, with a Diploma/Associate degree and at least three years acute care experience. A BSN is preferred, with BLS certification and potential for RN to BSN progression.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• Must complete 15 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education in this evaluation cycle.
• Leadership experience and ongoing professional development are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow across hospitals to optimize bed placement and timely transfers.
• Serve as a clinical and administrative resource for complex bed assignments.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse managers, and bed management to address flow barriers.
• Coordinate transfer referrals and bed placement with related teams and transfer partners.
• Support psych intake referrals in partnership with psychiatric admissions.
