Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking an admissions clerk to support inpatient and outpatient admissions under general supervision. You will interview patients, gather information, prepare forms and perform clerical and computer tasks related to admission.

Qualifications

• HS or GED required.
• At least 6 months of experience; Emergency Department or hospital experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong oral and written communication; data analysis and reporting ability.
• Customer service oriented with multitasking and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs admitting functions using RTM, Meditech, Bedtracking, and communicates with RN, Clinical Unit Coordinator or Admin Coordinator.
• Reports to work on time and ready to start; answers calls promptly.
• Answers call bells and informs staff of patient needs and testing times.
• Ensures patients reach testing on time and downtime paperwork is stocked.
• Keeps logs of calls and maintains admission and physician lists up to date.
• Arranges transfers and proper ambulance transports as needed.
• Copies paperwork for transfers to other facilities; coordinates dietary trays.
• Changes bed/linens and returns patients as requested.
