Job summary

Elara Caring in Corpus Christi, TX is seeking a Spiritual Coordinator to advance compassionate hospice care. You will conduct spiritual assessments and work with the interdisciplinary team to integrate beliefs, values and comfort into patient care.

We require a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in divinity, theology, pastoral care, or related field and at least 2 years in hospice, counseling, or ministry. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel between patient homes.

  • Support patients and families with end-of-life concerns, including discussions around meaning, faith, forgiveness, and personal values.
  • Provide bereavement support to families before and after a patient’s passing.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on spiritual care and maintain accurate, timely documentation of services provided.

As a Spiritual Coordinator, you’ll contribute to our success in the following ways:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing spiritual assessments to identify the needs, beliefs, and preferences of hospice patients and families.
  • Develop individualized spiritual care plans and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate spiritual needs into overall patient care.
  • Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and emotional support while respecting each patient’s cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Support patients and families with end-of-life concerns, including discussions around meaning, faith, forgiveness, and personal values.
  • Provide bereavement support to families before and after a patient’s passing.

What is Required?
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in divinity, Theology, Pastoral Care, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience working at a hospice, counseling, or ministry environment
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and support up to 50 pounds, including positioning or transferring patients and moving equipment
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, or have reliable transportation to travel between patient homes and assigned work locations
