Job summary

Southwest General is seeking a Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator to provide direct spiritual care to patients and families and to coordinate spiritual care volunteers and memorial services. The role supports the Interdisciplinary Team on ethical and religious matters and collaborates with congregations for hospice education.

The position requires CPE or two years of related clinical work, an Ohio driver’s license, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: degree or certificate in Pastoral Counseling/Spiritual Director; MDIV; or related field from an accredited school or university.
• Must be able to provide care in diverse living situations and diverse patient populations.
• Must be able to drive and have a valid Ohio driver's license.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or two years related clinical work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct spiritual care for patients and families, including needs of the dying and their families.
• Coordinate and evaluate spiritual care volunteers; oversee orientation of new employees and volunteers.
• Assist with development and participation of memorial services for patients and the agency.
• Assist Interdisciplinary Team in understanding ethical, religious, and spiritual issues.
• Assist with outreach to congregations and other community groups for education regarding Hospice services.
• Be flexible to meet patient/family needs and respond to evening, weekend, and emergency requests.
