Silverado Hospice in Austin is hiring an RN On-Call to provide after-hours nursing coverage, ensuring timely assessments and continuity of care for hospice patients and families in the Austin area. The role focuses on compassionate, patient-centered care during critical moments and requires an active RN license and at least 1 year of nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a valid state license.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
• Hospice experience preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must clear a criminal background check, physical, and drug screening.
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours based on business needs.
• Must be comfortable working in environments with animals and pets.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing evaluations and after-hours assessments for patients with changes in condition.
• Assess for signs and symptoms of discomfort, including pain, and take prompt, appropriate action.
• Initiate and update plans of care as needed; provide nursing follow-up and caregiver instruction.
• Submit accurate documentation within 24 hours of visits.
• Coordinate services across settings to ensure quality and appropriateness of care.
• Follow approved care plans, modify as needed, and communicate with physicians when appropriate.
