Job summary

Hospice Austin is seeking an Afterhours Visit Nurse to provide compassionate nursing support from 4:30 pm to 7:30 am in the Spicewood/Austin area. This PRN role supports clinical services with focused assessments and symptom management during afterhours visits.

The position requires a Texas RN license, CPR, and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. You will collaborate with Team Leads and triage to ensure timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
• Unrestricted Texas RN license.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs focused, clinically indicated assessments during patient visits and documents vital signs and symptoms.
• Provides comfort-focused interventions to manage pain, dyspnea, agitation, and other distress.
• Completes initial assessments and secures approvals to admit patients to hospice service with proper documentation.
• Delivers care within the Hospice Austin service area and collaborates with the care team for updates.
• Educates patients and families on symptom management, end-of-life changes, and when to seek additional support.
