Qualifications

• Registered nurse in the State with current licensure to practice professional nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master’s degree in hospice preferred.
• Three years of management experience in hospice or related health care organization within last five years; supervisory/administrative capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
• Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
• Licensed driver with insured vehicle in good working order.
• Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations and CHAP standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
• Provides guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors to improve hospice care.
• Assists Clinical Supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning.
• Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care.
• Assists Executive Director in budget preparation and administration.
• Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and staffing impacts.
• Evaluates performance of Clinical Supervisors.
• Helps develop skills and techniques in evaluating clinicians.
• Hires, evaluates, and terminates organization personnel.
• Conducts annual evaluations on clinicians or more frequently if indicated.
• Oversees maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records.
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws and CHAP Home Care standards.
• Maintains inventory supplies and equipment for patient services.
• Develops, implements and evaluates orientation programs for new staff.
• Plans and conducts in-service and continuing education quarterly.
• Participates in performance improvement program and quarterly/annual reviews.
• Ensures quality and safe delivery of hospice services.
• Assists in developing organization goals and policies.
• Ensures coordination of nursing with other hospice services for continuum of care.
• Develops protocols for verbal communication and case conferencing between nursing and other disciplines.
• Develops written job descriptions and performance criteria for nursing personnel.
• Assigns duties based on education, training, competencies and job descriptions.
• Ensures nursing services are provided as specified in the nursing plan of care.
