Job summary

St. Joseph Hospice in Hattiesburg, MS seeks a PRN Hospice Aide CNA to assist patients with mobility, grooming, bathing and daily living activities under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include safe use of assistive devices, infection control, and reporting condition changes to the interdisciplinary team. Competitive pay with ESOP and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Formal CNA certification training or competency evaluation.
• Minimum six months of direct care experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mobility, transfers, grooming, bathing, dressing, eating and toileting.
• Support safe use of walkers or wheelchairs under supervision.
• Maintain client safety and infection control, report any concerns.
• Notify RN and care team of changes in patient condition or home situation.

Job Duties

• Provide assistance with mobility, transferring, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, or undressing, eating and toileting
• Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse or physical therapist for a specific patient
• Promote personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following our guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to your supervisor
• Report any change in the patient’s mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years old
• Completed High School or earned Equivalency Diploma
• Successful completion of a formal certification training program or a written skills test and competency evaluation
• Minimum of six (6) months’ work experience in a direct care setting
• Current CPR certification required
• Have dependable transportation, current driver’s license, and auto insurance
