VITAS Healthcare is seeking an Admissions Coordinator to streamline the intake of referrals and convert them into admissions through clear communication and strong data handling. You will interact with patients, families, referral sources and program staff to enable timely starts of care.

The role requires handling multiple tasks—processing referrals, verifying benefits, and coordinating with scheduler and admissions teams—while maintaining a concierge level of service and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Two or more years related experience in medical terminology and/or in a call center environment.
• Ability to attain goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication with internal and external callers, verbally and in writing.
• Proficient with computers, internet, and automated systems; 40+ WPM typing.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals received by telephone, email, fax or website inquiries.
• Follow up daily on pending patient charts.
• Enter data accurately to support data integrity and reimbursement.
• Verify Medicare and Medicaid hospice benefits.
• Notify departments of commercial insurances and managed care plans.
• Call patients to offer a same-day appointment for timely admission.
• Assign appointments to Admissions Representatives and report outcomes.
• Complete admission paperwork as needed.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
• Support staffing and scheduling for the Care Connection Center.
