Job summary

The Terraces at Peachtree Hills Place is seeking Homemakers (Personal Chefs) to prepare nutritious, appetizing meals for Members in our Household model of care. You will partner with Care Partners, the Guide, and leadership to tailor menus and dining experiences that respect personal preferences and schedules.

This role emphasizes engaging Members at mealtimes, creating a home-like kitchen atmosphere, and upholding food-safety standards (ServSafe).

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: collaborate to create menus and support excellent meal experiences.
• Support the Household Model of Care: ensure meals are available per Members' schedules and preferences.
• Member Engagement: foster an inviting kitchen/dining atmosphere and engage Members in meal prep and cleanup.
• Other: maintain safe, sanitary kitchen and complete required trainings.

In our unique Household model of care, the kitchen is considered the heart of the home and mealtime is a significant opportunity for socializing and connecting to others. Our Homemakers (Personal Chefs) are responsible not only for creating nutritious, appetizing meals for Members living in our Households, but are responsible for making every mealtime a meaningful opportunity for engagement.

Our Homemakers are expected to know our Members well through the development of good relationships, so that knowing individualized choice and preference for each Member is the culture within each Household. We are looking for outgoing, talented chefs who want to use their skills to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation

• Collaborate with Members, Care Partners, the Guide, Leadership, and the Certified Dietary Manager to create all menus supporting an excellent meal experience in the household

Support the Household Model of Care:

• Ensuring meals and snacks are available to Members on their preferred schedule
• Being available to prepare fresh meals when Members want to eat, supporting individual choice and preference
• Prepare or direct the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes, special diet orders, and Member preferences
• Actively engage Members in meal preparation in any way the Member is able to or interested in participating
• Plan food production so that Members are provided with nutritious, appealing, high quality food at the appropriate temperature at the time they prefer to eat, rather than at predetermined mealtimes
• Determine amount and types of food and supplies required for daily menus, and ensure they are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
• Maintain ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certification

Member Engagement

• Plan and facilitate foodrelated engagement activities for Members (i.e., picnics, afternoon tea, wine tastings, etc.)
• Treat every meal as an opportunity to engage Members, including them as much as possible in the meal preparation, setup, and cleanup, with the goal of creating a familiar home environment
• Cultivate an inviting atmosphere in the kitchen and dining areas, encouraging all Members to see the area as a gathering place where they can engage with you, the care team and other Members, allowing the development of true meaningful relationships and connections with all living and working in the Household
• Cultivate an inviting atmosphere in the kitchen and dining areas, encouraging conversation and supporting truly knowing each other’s stories and interests
• Individualize the experience by supporting and celebrating personal milestones, i.e., birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen and dining area
• Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with organizational dress code
• Complete all required continuing education, and attend inservice training and education sessions, as assigned
