Job summary

Louisville Metro Government seeks a Houseless Services role to engage and connect houseless individuals with services and resources, using client-centered communication and response. The position coordinates and evaluates needs while operating under general supervision.

The role builds relationships in encampments, connects people to shelters and mental health or SUD services, and documents daily interactions. Flexibility for varied hours is required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent is required.
• One year of customer service experience is required.
• Must be eligible to complete Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and Equity training within 90 days.
• Must be willing to work first or second shift, weekends, extended hours, overtime and/or vary duty hours.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Builds relationships with houseless individuals in encampments and areas they frequent.
• Connects individuals with resources and services and de-escalates crises when needed.
• Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates needs of those experiencing houselessness.
• Documents and records daily client interactions, referrals, and site conditions.
• Works cooperatively with government-related agencies and the public.
