Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Home Medical Equipment Coordinator for the Home Services team in Salt Lake City. The role manages patient orders from intake through delivery, coordinating with referrals, EMR data entry, insurance verification, and education for patients and caregivers.

The position supports Discharges and transitions of care with equipment setup at home, offering one-on-one education and ensuring alignment with physician orders.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service role with professionalism, empathy and responsiveness.
• Proven ability to work independently with self-motivation, accountability and sound judgment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with diverse individuals.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and dependability in managing tasks and documentation.
• Effective organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Proficiency with basic computer apps (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, scheduling).
• Ability to understand and speak English clearly and communicate with patients and team members.
• Field/Delivery positions require valid driver’s license, insured vehicle and reliable transportation, with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Respond to phone, email, chat, and in-person inquiries promptly and courteously; triage and route to appropriate staff.
• Coordinate patient intake and order processing by gathering referrals and entering data into EMR; verify insurance or self-pay status.
• Manage delivery and fulfillment of medical equipment and supplies with timely coordination with delivery staff.
• Support discharges and transitions of care to ensure equipment setup for home use.
• Provide one-on-one patient education, fittings, and verify equipment selections meet physician orders.
• Process POS transactions and coordinate delivery or pickup in clinical and retail settings.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless service delivery and maintain internal/external relationships.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing, privacy and confidentiality regulations.
