Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide age-specific care using the nursing process, collaborate with physicians, and lead the patient care team on the unit. The role emphasizes clinical judgment, safety, and comprehensive documentation.

The position requires NY RN licensure, a nursing degree (BSN preferred), and ongoing BSN progression within defined timelines. Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Current NY RN license is required.
• Must enroll in a BSN program within two years and obtain BSN within five years.
• Designed for licensed nursing staff with ability to provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conducts interdisciplinary patient interviews and reviews charts to explain policies and procedures.
• Assesses GI, CV, respiratory, renal and neuro status to tailor care plans.
• Documents patient health status and care plan for team communication.
• Communicates psychosocial health needs and coordinates with social services and support groups.
• Implements care plans with attention to safety and timely reassessment.
• Administers medications accurately and educates patients about drug interactions and side effects.
• Documents treatment and patient responses per policy and ensures accurate records.
• Participates in discharge planning and coordinates referrals as needed.
• Performs ongoing quality improvements and collaborates with physicians and care team.
