Supervises
Assistant Billing Coordinator. May take a lead role in the oversight of the office when the clinical manager is out of the office.
Responsibilities
Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA and facility regulatory and/or policy guidelines on privacy. Participates in regularly scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings. Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Petersburg Medical Center, acting as an ambassador for the Home Health department and its services. Participates in the planning and delivery of services within the Adult Day Program and Senior In-Home Services, promoting high-quality eldercare and community wellness.
- Evaluate both the front and back end of the consolidated billing process and queue claims for insurance billing. Track the timeliness of the billing cycle and review remits to maximize appropriate reimbursement.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve claim issues, using a team approach with staff. Initiate appeals when applicable. Attend billing, staff, and other meetings as required.
- Maximize employee potential, demonstrate teamwork, and meet quality and professional standards to promote department flow and efficiency.
- Train and oversee work performed by the Reception / Admissions / Billing Coordinator.
- Manage physician referrals, computer entry of registration, and scanning of Home Health documents.
- Handle insurance verification, ongoing eligibility, and preauthorization of accounts.
- Review, research, and plan workflow, revenue cycle, coding, and payor changes affecting the fiscal viability of the agency.
- Compose reports as needed using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understand and utilize electronic medical records. Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Provide excellent service to all PMC customers by demonstrating our Guiding Values and Code of Conduct. Present PMC and the Home Health Agency positively.
- Order supplies and update the item master as needed.
- Collaborate with the facility manager at Mountain View Manor on billing processes and support.
- Assist with physical support to the Adult Day Program if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Patient care is always the priority. The Home Health Office Manager must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, possess excellent communication skills, work effectively in a team, demonstrate flexibility, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Pass a third-party background check and a State of Alaska background check by the Department of Social Services.
- Pass a drug screen (including Marijuana).
Experience
At least four (4) years of clerical office experience, preferably in health insurance billing or a healthcare setting.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, walking, stocking equipment and supplies. Indoor work in a well-lit and ventilated office environment.
Environment
Variable; office may be small or crowded. Work involves computer use, printing, and scanning.
