Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Home Coordinator to oversee daily operations of supported living homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will supervise and train Direct Support Professionals to ensure safety, quality of life, and adherence to VOA policies.

The role requires leadership, planning, and teamwork, with strong communication and HIPAA compliance in collaboration with the Residential Service Coordinator and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience working with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Supervising and training staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA.
• Ability to work as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the home, while following VOA policies and procedures.
• Supervise and assist consumers in maintaining wholesome and productive lives with opportunities for residents to envision their own futures.
• Train Direct Support Staff per mandated curriculum as required by state and VOA policies and regulations.
• Accompany consumers on scheduled and emergency medical appointments and communicate with the agency’s Registered Nurse.
• Attend Interdisciplinary team meetings as assigned by the Residential Service Coordinator.
• Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly documentation to ensure compliance with PCISP goals and State Regulations.
• Train staff on each client’s Individualized Support Plan and ensure annual training courses are completed.
• Plan and coordinate leisure, recreational, and social activities.
• Assist consumers in maintaining relationships with family and friends.
• Supervise staff and assigned customers; be available on an on-call basis.
• Develop staff schedules with budgetary constraints and guidelines to provide staff ratios based on consumer needs.
• Review hours and approve timesheets; reconcile time off vs time worked.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance; suggest disciplinary actions as needed.
• Support performance and quality improvement duties as assigned by the Residential Service Coordinator.
• Initiate purchase requests to meet consumer needs.
• Ensure grocery/supply shopping is within budgets and manage vehicle maintenance.
• Communicate health concerns to the Registered Nurse and document medical encounters.
