Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment per state regulations across Maryland, DC, or Virginia. The role involves planning discharge, coordinating with health care teams, and ensuring compliance with standards and reimbursement requirements.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, 1–2 years of clinical experience, and valid SLP licensure for MD/VA or ASHA certification as applicable.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• 1–2 years of clinical experience required.
• SLP license to practice in MD or VA (or ASHA CCC) as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to goals and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.
• Plans specialized assessments and discharge referrals for post-therapy care to meet client needs.
• Communicates with a supervisor regarding issues related to rehab services and patient care.
• Maintains relationships with other departments and participates in quality and service improvement teams.
• Maintains ongoing communication with patient’s physician and care team regarding care and status.
• Provides assessments and develops speech-language pathology treatment plans with the health care team.
• Documents medical records per standards and regulatory requirements for reimbursement of services.
• Educates patient and caregiver about illness, functional limitations and post-discharge care.
