Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking a Human Services Program Specialist to support HIV prevention efforts in the Viera area. The role involves organizing campaigns, coordinating with facilities, and delivering testing and counseling services in clinics and outreach events.

The candidate will work with health education teams, maintain client files, and link clients to care through CAREWare while adhering to HIV testing policies and infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 2 years experience with HIV continuum of care.
• Professional or nonprofessional experience can substitute for required education.
• 2 years of health and social client-centered intervention management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Experience with electronic client management systems.
• Experience organizing or participating in HIV/AIDS awareness/education events.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance on development, implementation and expansion of HIV prevention programs.
• Organize local HIV prevention campaigns and events.
• Coordinate with jails, treatment facilities to provide HIV screening and follow-up care.
• Conduct interviews to educate clients about infections and refer partners to care.
• Communicate health literacy activities to increase HIV status awareness.
• Provide HIV pre/post-test counseling and rapid testing in clinics and outreach settings.
• Serve as liaison with HIV Early Intervention Services and maintain client files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
