Job summary

CAN Community Health in Fort Myers, FL is hiring a Program Specialist I to support HIV prevention and health education initiatives. The role engages in HIV/STI testing, PrEP linkage, and community outreach, with hours outside normal schedule including nights and weekends.

The position emphasizes client confidentiality, data documentation, and partnership development to extend prevention services across community settings. A minimum high school diploma and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience; relevant college coursework may substitute.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provides HIV/STI/Hepatitis C testing and risk reduction counseling in community-based settings and in clinics, including phlebotomy.
• Provides education on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and links clients to the program.
• Ensures client confidentiality 100% of the time, following HIPAA and CAN policies.
• Accurately documents testing in EMR, state reporting systems, and paper records as required.
• Develops new community partnerships through BRTA/FRTA and MOAs under supervision.
• Represents CAN Community Health at local, state, and national meetings; conducts outreach in diverse settings.
• Distributes condoms and educational materials to community members and partners.
• Documents and maintains all prevention data records.
