Job summary

Marion County Public Health Department seeks a Health Educator to plan, implement, and provide HIV testing, STD screenings, and risk reduction education. Applicants should be self-starters who can conduct outreach in non-traditional locations and hours.

The educator will link HIV-positive clients to medical care, coordinate outreach events in the community, and document all interventions in the EHR according to MCPHD guidelines.

Qualifications

• Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling training and related certifications.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of health education and risk reduction for target groups.
• Provide client-centered counseling and education sessions.
• Present HIV/STD health education/prevention programs to schools, groups, and communities.
• Provide and document referrals for HIV testing & STD screenings with follow-up.
• Coordinate outreach and link HIV-positive clients to medical care per MCPHD/SUOS guidelines.
• Conduct patient follow-up to ensure services are obtained and provide support.
• Utilize an electronic record system to document interventions and access health information.
• Collaborate with community agencies to increase testing access and reduce barriers.
