Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Histotechnologist to prepare specimens for pathologist examination, including gross handling, embedding and staining of slides. You will ensure specimen quality and safety, supported by maintenance and quality control duties.

The role requires 1 year of histotechnologist experience and an associate degree in Histology or Applied Science. Training and comprehensive benefits are provided as part of our total rewards package.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Histotechnologist
• Associate’s degree in Histology or Applied Science
• Graduate of an accredited school or program of Histology or Pathology

Responsibilities

• Accession specimens with proper patient information and log specimens accurately
• Process, embed, cut, mount and stain specimens
• Accurately file slides, cassettes and tissue blocks
• Prepare, label, and observe expiration dates on solutions and reagents
• Assist with bone marrow aspirations and biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and renal biopsies
• Assist with lab maintenance to include cleaning, restocking, preventative maintenance of equipment, instrument performance checks, and specimen discarding

Education

Associate’s degree in Histology or Applied Science

Graduate of an accredited school or program of Histology or Pathology
