Job summary

Tempus is seeking a Histotechnologist II to process FFPE tissue blocks and prepare high-quality slides for diagnostic review at Research Triangle Park. You will work with a team of pathologists and lab staff to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

You will maintain specimen integrity, operate microtomes and automated staining equipment, and document work in the LIMS while adhering to CAP and SOP guidelines. Safety and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• ASCP HT/HTL certification is required.
• College degree (associates or bachelors) required.
• Previous histology experience is required.
• Knowledge of CAP regulations and SOPs.
• Safety training and compliance with lab safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unstained and H&E slides from FFPE tissue blocks using microtome, water bath, automated stainer, coverslipper, processors and embedding centers.
• Determine block orientation and knife angles to obtain representative sections.
• Maintain specimen integrity and proper labeling of samples, slides and folders.
• Cut frozen sections with a cryostat and stain for pathologists to review.
• Collaborate with pathologists and lab coordinators for slide quality review.
• Track work using a Lab Information Management System (LIMS).
• Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot as necessary; follow safety requirements.
• Work with histology team to meet daily cutting and staining deadlines.
