Job summary

Tidelands Health is hiring a Histotechnologist II to perform routine histology, fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and special stains) with immunohistochemistry as needed. You will assist pathologists and maintain quality control in a high-volume lab.

The role requires an Associate or Bachelor of Science with at least 1 year of histology experience, strong PC skills, and familiarity with LIS and EPIC systems. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year histology lab experience; hospital setting preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign accession numbers to specimens logged in Histology.
• Choose processing schedules and manage delays for weekends/holidays.
• Flag discrepancies with tissue processors and follow protocols.
• Ensure timely turnaround time (TAT) and proper tissue orientation.
• Section slides with correct orientation and thickness.
• Prepare and maintain solutions for H&E staining.
• Operate automated slide stainers for throughput.
• Process non-gyn specimens; assess staining quality.
• Assist pathologist and staff with FNA procedures.
