Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year histology lab experience, preferably in a hospital-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Assign correct accession number to specimens logged into Histology.
• Select the correct processing schedule for each processing run.
• Notify the senior tech of any discrepancies concerning tissue processors.
• Ensure timely TAT for specimens.
• Cut slides with correct orientation and thickness for the tissue type.
• Select and sequence the chemical solutions for the H&E stain.
• Set up and monitor automated slide stainer.
• Process non-gyn specimens.
• Recognize acceptable vs. unacceptable staining results for special stains.
