Job summary

Advocate Health's Histology Lab in Charlotte, NC seeks a part-time Histology Technician for 2nd shift. The role performs frozen sections, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry to support rapid diagnoses.

The candidate may assist with autopsies and must maintain precise specimen handling and documentation. Qualified applicants are enrolled in or certified for HT/HTL (ASCP) with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• HT/HTL program enrollment and graduation within 1 year.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification with 1 year experience OR uncertified HT with 3+ years experience.
• Experience in histology procedures and lab safety.

Responsibilities

• Performs frozen section preparations with accurate embedding, sectioning and staining.
• Performs routine, special stains and immunohistochemical stains.
• Recognizes deviations and acts to correct results.
• Assists with autopsies as assigned and participates in gross examination.
• Prepares specimens and ensures correct laboratory testing and order accuracy.
• Stores slides, blocks and specimens in organized shelves and record-keeping.
