Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Histologic Technician II for the Anatomic Pathology lab on the Winston Campus. This full-time night shift embedding position is Monday through Friday with potential move to 4x10s.

Responsibilities include accessioning, labeling, processing and staining of specimens with attention to accuracy and safety. The role requires an ASCP-certified education path or equivalent experience and prefers HT (ASCP) certification plus three years in a clinical histology lab.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in applied science or high school diploma/GED with ASCP/NSH training.
• Three years' experience in a clinical histology lab preferred.
• HT (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment.
• Accessioning, labeling and billing of specimens accurately and timely.
• Processing and staining of specimens according to departmental practices.
• Identifies specimens accurately and thoroughly.
• Performs special stains and/or enzyme histochemical stains.
• Performs additional Anatomic Pathology lab procedures.
• Pursues self-study and continuing education to improve skills.
• Contributes to smooth operation of the section and department.
• Follows policies to prevent spread of bloodborne and airborne diseases.
• Represents the lab professionally in line with hospital and professional standards.
