Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates degree (or equivalent) with 12 sem. hours (18 qtr.) in biology and chemistry, OR 60 sem. hours (90 qtr.) with biology/chemistry.
• Must obtain Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification within 1 year of hire.
• Must meet CLIA high complexity testing requirements and applicable accreditations.

Responsibilities

• Performs cassette-log reconciliation and processor operations.
• Embeds tissues and ensures adequacy of processing per SOP.
• Maintains accurate documentation throughout all steps in the LIS and logs.
• Operates microtome and automated staining instruments to prepare slides.
• Performs quality control and troubleshooting for staining and instrument issues.
• Assist with gross examination and tissue selection when applicable.
• Participate in safety, infection control, and continuous training activities.

Education

Associates degree with biology and chemistry hours OR 60 semester hours with biology/chemistry
