Job summary

Centralus Health Mission in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare and process surgical and cytology specimens to produce high-quality slides for pathologist diagnosis. Responsibilities include embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, and participation in intraoperative consultations under pathologist direction.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in histology, plus NYS-recognized histotechnician certificate.
• Current NYS Histotechnician license or NYS CLT license with relevant experience.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ability to prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

• Perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping of pathology specimens.
• Process specimens for additional studies (special stains, IHC, send-out testing).
• Ensure accurate specimen identification and integrity throughout processing.
• Assist with intraoperative consultations under pathologist direction.
• Operate, maintain, and document maintenance of laboratory equipment.
