Job summary

Apex Skin in Canton, OH is seeking a qualified Histotechnician to support our Mohs surgery team. This full-time role handles the technical preparation of tissue specimens, accessioning, processing, cutting, staining, and preparing frozen sections for Mohs surgery.

The ideal candidate is ASCP certified with experience in histology and frozen sections, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• ASCP Certification required.
• Associates degree in Biology, Chemistry, Histology or related field required.
• Current and valid CPR certification required.
• Experience with processing frozen sections and highly skilled grossing preferred.
• At least one year of surgical or Mohs experience preferred.
• American Society for Mohs Histotechnology membership preferred.
• Proficiency in basic computer software, medical terminology, and EMR documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical duties related to production of histology pathological slides.
• Receives and accessions tissue, cytology specimens and prepares specimens for storage, labeling.
• Cuts and stains thin sections for routine and special stains.
• Assists with cutting and staining of tissues for frozen sections.
• Maintains equipment, cleanliness, and safe laboratory environment.
• Maintains OSHA/CLIA records and performs quality control procedures.
• Prepares reagents, solutions, and stains as needed.
• Operates and maintains equipment and performs QC checks.
• Performs related clinical duties as required.
