Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is hiring a Maintenance/Construction Technician I (S) for the Historic Sites division at 1610 Ft. Fisher Blvd., Kure Beach, NC 28449.

The role focuses on skilled and semi-skilled maintenance across buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment, including minor and major repairs. The position emphasizes masonry, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, painting, and safety systems, with occasional after-hours work and duties

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and building repair.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools used in structures and machinery.
• Ability to operate common shop or wood working equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and clean historic buildings and grounds; operate lawn equipment.
• Perform masonry, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, painting, and safety systems tasks.
• Assist with interpretive activities for school groups and site events.
• Prepare safety and administrative reports; perform janitorial duties as needed.
• Work occasional nights and weekends as required.
