Stony Brook Medicine seeks a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician to provide clinical services to our patient population and follow laboratory procedures with interpretation as needed to ensure proper patient care.

You will perform paraffin embedding and microtomy, stain and coverslip histology sections, and manage immunohistochemistry; you will ensure QA and maintenance of equipment and assist in grossing biopsies when needed. A NYS license or eligibility is required.

Competenze

• Requires NYS license as CLT or eligibility (including provisional/limited permit) with relevant experience.
• Preferred: NYS CLT license; BS in biology/medical technology or related life sciences; or AAS in Histotechnology.
• Experience in histology including special stains and immunohistochemistry; microtomy.
• Must have HT (ASCP) or be eligible.

Mansioni

• Paraffin embed tissue such as biopsies, surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy and research tissue.
• Perform paraffin microtomy to produce 2–5 micron sections.
• Stain, coverslip and prepare all histology slides; correctly label and distribute sections.
• Follow protocol for LIS systems (Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage).
• Process requests for special stains and immunohistochemistry; document completion in Copath QA logs.
• Conduct all routine maintenance and QA documentation for lab instrumentation and reagents.
• Assist with grossing biopsy specimens when assigned.
