Job summary

Caris Life Sciences is seeking a Histology Technologist I to assist pathology professionals with IHC, tissue processing, embedding, and slide preparation. This role operates under supervision with strict adherence to standard procedures.

The candidate will perform routine histology tasks, participate in high-complexity testing, and maintain documentation in LIS and lab logs. A formal histology training path or degree is required or expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in an IHC/histology lab or equivalent trainee experience.
• Bachelor's/Associate degree or equivalent with required coursework.
• Completion of NAACLS accredited histology program preferred.
• HT/HTL ASCP certification eligible preferred.
• Willingness to travel periodically and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs embedding, sectioning, H&E staining and cover slipping.
• Performs high-complexity testing such as IHC staining and QC of slides.
• Ensures correct labeling and patient/match of blocks and slides.
• Documents in LIS and laboratory logs as directed.
• Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and reports issues.
• Follows SOPs and maintains diagnostic viability of specimens.
• Identifies problems that may affect test performance and takes corrective actions.
• Assists with related duties and special projects in the lab.
• Demonstrates ability to take direction and know resources for guidance.

60 semester hours with chemistry and biology coursework
