Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI seeks a Histology Technician/Technologist to receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic analysis. Duties include processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, with around 400 blocks daily.

The role requires an Associate degree with biology/chemistry coursework or ASCP HT/HTL eligibility, 1 year healthcare/lab experience, and HT/HTL certification within 2 years of hire. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with biology/chemistry coursework, or ASCP HT/HTL eligibility.
• 1 year of healthcare or laboratory experience required.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification within 2 years of hire.
• Strong fine motor skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
• Perform tissue processing, embedding, paraffin sectioning, H&E and special staining.
• Handle ~400 blocks per day and ensure quality for pathology review.
• Coordinate work with Pathologists’ Assistant and Pathologist.
