Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Histologic Technician II for the Anatomic Pathology lab at the Winston Campus. This PRN, part-time role involves embedding, microtomy, staining, and accurate handling of specimens in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Minimum education includes an associate degree or equivalent high school diploma with histology training; HT (ASCP) is preferred. Strong teamwork and patient-focused precision are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science or high school diploma/GED with two years training as defined by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the National Society of Histotechnology.
• Three years' experience in a clinical histology lab preferred.
• HT (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital standards and promotes a cooperative work environment.
• Assures accurate accessioning, labeling and billing of specimens.
• Ensures accurate processing and staining of specimens.
• Performs identification procedures for patient specimens.
• Performs special stains and/or enzyme histochemical stains.
• Performs additional Anatomic Pathology laboratory procedures.
• Continuously improves skills through self-study and education.
• Supports smooth operation of the section and department.
