Charles River is seeking an experienced Technician I - Histology for our 1st Shift Pathology Services Team in Mattawan, MI. The role involves training to perform tissue processing, embedding, staining, and data handling under supervision.

This entry-level position requires strong communication, safety compliance, and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Pay is $20 USD/hr, with opportunities for hands-on learning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; BA/BS preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to follow safety procedures and SOPs.
• Authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa.
• Knowledge of GLP/SOP/BOP/IACUC requirements.
• Willingness to work evenings/weekends/overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform tissue processing and packaging and preservation of tissue products.
• Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventative maintenance.
• Embed and/or re-embed processed tissue in paraffin.
• Post-processing decontamination of equipment and processing room.
• Prepare/write data for pathologist review.
• Maintain equipment and instrumentation.
• Train in onboarding skills for tissue handling and processing.
• Handle samples and materials for department.
