Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking an experienced Technician 1 – Histology for the 2nd Shift Pathology Services Team in Mattawan, MI. The role trains on onboarding, tissue handling, trimming, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, staining, and data recording under supervision.

The pay rate is $20/hr with hours Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. This position supports tissue processing, equipment prep, QC, and sample logistics within a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS in biological science preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to learn a validated system.

Responsibilities

• Perform tissue processing and preservation of tissue products.
• Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventative maintenance.
• Embed tissue in paraffin and assist with data documentation.
• Receive, track, and prepare samples for the department.
• Maintain equipment and assist pathologists as needed.
