Qualifications

• May require Bachelor's degree (preferred).
• Certification as Histotechnologist (HLT ASCP) or equivalent; registry eligible and obtained within 1 year of hire.
• 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession tissue specimens and prepare for processing.
• Cut thin sections and stain according to procedure; review control slides.
• Assist Pathologist with cutting and staining for frozen sections.
• Maintain stock of reagents and supplies; ensure equipment cleanliness.
• Label and store finished slides; maintain safe lab environment.
• Prepare written documentation for regulatory agencies (FDA, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, OSHA).
• Participate in Patient Satisfaction initiatives and support team training.
