Job summary

Cornell University seeks two Medical Technologist Assistants for the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory at AHDC in Ithaca, NY. The role performs tissue trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, supporting pathologists, trainees, and researchers with high-quality histology services.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining histology equipment, troubleshooting, and communicating issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a science field and up to two years of related experience or equivalent.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods and perform demanding lab tasks.
• Proficient in microtome use and histology techniques.
• Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histology: trimming, processing, embedding, and sectioning of tissues.
• Perform histology stains including H&E and histochemical stains.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology lab equipment and trim room areas.
• Support veterinary pathologists, residents, staff, and investigators with high-quality services.
• Communicate problems and actions taken to supervisors for resolution.
